coal bed methane and gob gas assessments |
IMC Geophysics provides experienced consultant services in
the assessment of recoverable reserves of gob gas and coal bed methane.
Reconnaissance desk top studies to assess the potential for
gob gas reserves in areas with abandoned coal mineworkings are carried out
followed by detailed studies to assess the geological structure, connectivity of
mineworkings, siting and designing of wells. Minewater recovery rates are estimated using
3D modelling techniques and detailed analysis of mine plans to establish the
potential commercial life of gob gas wells. Passive and active pump testing,
together with a full range of gas analysis services are available.
In virgin coalfield areas a range of services are offered
including a geological assessment of the stratigraphy, coal seam properties and
structural data for the identification of potential gas traps. The detailed
optimum siting of wells can be carried out using available seismic data and
borehole geophysical data.
The design, specification and supervision of the drilling of
coal bed methane wells are carried out by experienced IMC personnel.
